Chopping Veggies - Celery
Celery is a little more tricky than carrots because of the curvature of the vegetable but it is easy to work with once you realize that you’re the one in control and can cut it in any way that pleases you no matter what the recipe says.
There are, to me, three main cuts for celery:
1. Arcs or slices
2. Chopped
3. Scoopable
Of course the arcs are simply cutting the rib of celery into slices. Chopped is making vertical long cuts and chopping them into little pieces. Scoopable is simply cutting the rib into smaller pieces to scoop up a dip with.
I prefer to peel the tougher outer skin off but honestly when I don’t have time or don’t care, I just hack away at the darn thing and take it as it is.
